With over 15 years of software engineering experience and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Université de Montréal, Mark brings deep expertise in embedded systems, mobile development, machine learning, and natural language processing to Fokus Intelligence.

Mark’s journey began over a decade ago as an avid e-reader himself. Despite trying every digital reading platform available, he kept running into the same frustrations: readers that weren’t intelligent enough, explanations that missed the context of what he was actually reading, and interfaces that distracted more than they helped.

But it wasn’t until Mark discovered that nearly 780 million people worldwide struggle with reading disabilities — dyslexia, ADHD, visual processing disorders — that his frustration transformed into purpose. He saw that these readers were almost entirely ignored by existing technology, and he knew he could build something better.

That conviction became Fokus Intelligence: an all-in-one intelligent reading platform designed not just for efficiency, but for equity. Mark’s vision is simple but profound — to harness the power of AI so that every person on earth can experience the joy and transformative power of reading.

Helena Han

VP & Co-Founder

Helena holds a Master’s degree in French Linguistics and Literature, bringing a rare combination of deep language expertise and entrepreneurial experience to Fokus Intelligence. With years of academic training in how language is structured, acquired, and processed, she offers invaluable insight into the cognitive challenges readers face — the very problems Fokus was built to solve.

As a former French language instructor at a Montréal language college, Helena spent five years working directly with diverse, multilingual learners — helping adults overcome language barriers and develop confident reading and comprehension skills. This frontline teaching experience gives her a profound understanding of how people learn, struggle, and ultimately succeed with text, making her a driving force behind Fokus’s user-centric design and accessibility-first philosophy.

Beyond education, Helena is a proven entrepreneur. Since 2021, she has founded and operated her own e-commerce business, building expertise in business strategy, operations management, and data-driven decision making. This blend of linguistic scholarship, hands-on teaching, and real-world business acumen makes her uniquely equipped to help shape Fokus Intelligence’s vision — ensuring the platform is not only technologically advanced, but genuinely accessible and meaningful for every reader.

Dr. Hongliang Li

Strategic AI Consultant

Dr. Li is an accomplished AI researcher who completed his postdoctoral research at Polytechnique Montréal, with numerous academic publications in artificial intelligence. His expertise spans large-scale model training and advanced machine learning methodologies, combining rigorous research experience with practical industry insight.

At Fokus Intelligence, Dr. Li serves as an AI Consultant, bridging the gap between cutting-edge AI research and real-world product development. His deep understanding of model architecture and training pipelines helps guide the team in building intelligent, scalable solutions that power the Fokus reading experience.
